4 Days on the Road
parked for the night along the Natchez Trace near Jackson, MS.
Our trip has been off to an amazing start! It’s been a whirlwind of activity, we’ve traveled over 1000 miles in 4 days, and are currently spending the night in Hallsville, TX (hoping to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights tonight)!
We left from Bradenton, (right after my Gentle/Restorative yoga class), and headed up to Allison Acres Organic Blueberry Farm, in Pinetta, FL, where we spent the night. We joined this network called Harvest Hosts, which connects RV people with places where you can spend a night in your rig for free or at low cost. (Check it out- this is my affiliate link- so if you sign up, I’ll get a kickback.)
Allison Acres was amazing. In the morning, we took a walk to the blueberry fields, and picked berries! They had a few varieties ripening, one which blew us away called “Pink Lemonade.” They taste SOOO good! We filled a bucket with these and some regular blue ones, and now we have a bunch in our freezer to eat along the way. After breakfast, Tim flew his drone for a while, and took some video footage of the farm. They have 200+ acres of land! They also spoiled us with an outdoor shower and lots of amenities. We’d definitely go back there again!
After we packed up, we hit the road for Day 2’s drive to Pensacola, FL, where we had a kirtan at URU Yoga. Big shout out to Rebecca, Nikki and Julie who made us feel so welcome. It’s a lovely studio! We tried livestreaming the kirtan, but the audio from my phone wasn’t good, so I took them down. BUT, we’re working on tweaking this for future kirtans from the road. You can subscribe at the BhaktiBlissKirtan YouTube channel to get notified of when we are live (or when we post new content).
On Day 3, we drove up to Natchez Trace, which is a 444 mile scenic parkway that runs from Mississippi up to Nashville, TN. We spent the night in a beautiful campground there, and were amazed that it was totally free to stay! On the way up there, I actually DROVE the RV on the highway. It was stressful for me, but I did OK, and I’m sure that by the end of our trip I’ll be an old pro at driving it.
This morning, (Day 4) we crossed the Mississippi River (after I led the 108 Days of Yoga Group Zoom class) and drove through Louisiana into Texas. It’s been an exciting few days! The cats are starting to get the rhythm of it. We experimented today with them riding in the bedroom for a little while so they wouldn’t have to be crated all afternoon. They are a little stressed, but seem to be going with the flow. They enjoy the evenings when it’s cooler and quiet and we are all hanging out together in the rig.
Tomorrow morning, I’ll be teaching my first full length yoga class from the road from “Secluded Acres” here in Hallsville, TX. It’s a beautiful, park-like setting. I’d love for you to join me for some yoga classes this summer from wherever I am- it’s like you get to come on vacation with us! Sign up for class (and pay what you wish) from the class schedule page. I’m also offering a great deal right now on my monthly membership- take as many classes as you want for $77/month! (includes the whole on-demand video library, too.) Your first week is totally free, so I hope you’ll give it a try!
Happy Trails,
